The USC Aiken softball team opened its season this weekend with a pair of impressive victories over Queens University.
The Pacers Toni Flessate was a key part of the Pacers 2-0 victory in the first game. Flessate put on a impressive pitching performance striking out seven batters in the shutout. Flessate also produced some offense for the pacers with a double in the sixth inning, which led to the Pacers second run.
Freshman Lindsay Jones also played well in her first game as a Pacer. Jones was 3 for 3 on the day with a RBI.
The second game of Sunday’s double-header ended in a shutout as well, with the pacers winning 2-0. Lauren Rickabaugh had a nearly identical performance pitching as she also posted seven strikeouts while only giving up three hits. Lauren Locklear was the star at the plate for the Pacers in game two. She had three hits and a RBI in the Pacers win.
The Pacers will take the field again today at 4 p.m. to play Erskine in a double-header.
