The USC Aiken Lady Pacers opened the week with a two point loss to the 18th ranked Francis Marion University. Four players scored in double digits for the Pacers, Catherine Cain led all scorers with 18 points. Aiken’s efforts still came up short as they were unable to score in their last possession of the game giving the Patriots the 79-77 victory.
The Lady Pacers bounced back however, going on a two game win streak, beginning with an overtime upset of 14th ranked Clayton State. The Pacers were on their way to a victory in regulation but Clayton State hit a shot sending it into an extra period tied at 51. The Pacers didn’t cement the win until the final seconds when Catherine Cain scored on a lay-up putting Aiken ahead for good; 57-56.
The Pacers then picked up its second victory with a 68-55 Victory over North Georgia. The Pacers were down the whole first half of the game and went into the locker room at halftime with a 34-22 deficit. Aiken rallied back in the second half outscoring the saints by 25 points giving them the 68-55 victory. Guard Nakia Pinkney led the way with 21 points. Pinkney shot 62 percent from beyond the arch, connecting on five three-pointers in the game. The Pacers return to the court tonight to take on Flager University in the convocation center tonight
