If it was not already apparent, the Pacer Times has been delving into the controversial regarding many of the opinions published lately. Subjects have crossed a broad spectrum of ideas ranging from the New York City mosque and the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" repeal, to the Confederate flag and the highly discussed arts budget for South Carolina. We write to invoke a spark in the students who read the paper, to encourage them to form their own opinions about issues relevant to them. The funny thing is that college students are very passionate and great about complaining, but don't always take action.

There is a lot of talk overheard around campus regarding the subjects the writers choose to discuss, both agreement and disagreement. Frequently though, students don't agree with the writer's position and they are quick to fuss about it to a friend, but who really hears what you have to say? What good is sitting around when you have the power to get your voice heard? Perhaps most students don't realize it, but such a thing exists in the Pacer Times known as Letters to the Editor.

This section hardly seen in the paper, frankly because not many are ever received, gives students the chance to talk back and tell your faithful writers what you really think. We say something that upsets you, you write an intelligent, well worded response back that gets published alongside the staff opinions. The process is quite simple really; all you have to do is sit down and write. Get involved, it doesn't matter that you do not agree with whatever platform a particular writer takes, in fact, disagreement is all the better.
