The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority hosted the Greek Date AKA-uction on Feb. 17.

Proceeds from the event benefited Relay for life, and the event was set up to establish unity between the Greek organizations at USC Aiken.

"I believe this event had a great turnout," said junior communications major Ronniesha Smith. "We raised money for a good cause, and we were able to unite Greeks all over campus."

The representatives being auctioned were from several Greek organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha, Phi Beta Sigma, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Tau Alpha, Phi Mu, Kappa Alpha Psi, Sigma Gamma Rho, Alpha Phi Alpha, Zeta Phi Beta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, Omega Phi Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Omega Psi Phi, a guest chapter from Augusta State University.

"This event was absolutely amazing. The AKA's did an amazing job organizing it," said sophomore biology major Brandy Braxton.

Participants in the event included Darius Adams, Rachel Driggers, Travis Broome, Caranda Crib, Jessica Moment, Brad Miano, Josh Peters, Susan MacClary, Lasket Coates, Natalya Ellison, Amanda Abernathy, Quintin Williams, Mary Capers, Gaydreia Glass, Matthew Torres, Rikki Luck, Ta'Nedria Pratt, Chris Carlton, Travlaus Clark, Brittney Porth, Ronniesha Smith, Shelby Smith, Briana Martin, Shandra McCastle, and Darell Smith and Howard Brown from ASU.

The auctioneers who bid the highest were given gift certificates from sponsors of the event such as Brunswick National Lanes, Carraba's Italian Grill, Cheddar's Casual Café, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, Moe's South Western Grill, O'Charley's, Outback Steak House, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday and T.G.I. Friday's.
