Broken Ink hosted their annual literary arts magazine release party in the Sac Mezzanine on March 14th.
This event began at 6 p.m. with an introduction from by Karl Fornes, adviser for Broken Ink, who was presented an appreciation token from student staff of Broken Ink. “This organization was started in 1971 by various faculty members, for the support of student artist and writers here at USCA,” said Christina Berkshire, Editor-in-Chief of Broken Ink. The Washington Group Award Winners are Ashley Wilson and Benjamin Cheeks, for their works “Baby Maker” and “Son of a Bitch,” respectfully.
Amanda Warren, professor of English here at USCA, was the featured Poet for this occasion. Warren read many of her works, beginning with her favorite letter readings. Berkshire, was presented with a token of love from her staff for her hard work and commitment, which including a gift card to Home Deport.
The event also invited Guild of Poetic Intent Savannah River, which performed a piece entitled, “Shoes,” written by Alesha Jones, President of this organization. Michael Davis, sophomore Music Education major and Alesha Jones, sophomore Communication major, performed “Shoes,” Other students
