Aiken's latest attraction as well as the most controversial establishment to the Downtown area, Tipsey McStumbles, has managed to gain a bad reputation due to the skimpy uniforms worn by the waitresses, but there is more to this place then short skirts and pretty girls.
The entrance of the bar consists of the old classic theme that is already presented when walking through the Alley. Very similar to many bars in the CSRA, the employees are equipped with sex appeal thus attracting a more male crowd, but it does not take away from the quality and productivity of the bar. During the daytime hours, the crowd is older and more mature, but between the times of 9p.m.-10p.m. the vibe of the bar changes to a younger party crowd thus bringing a wilder image for the waitresses.
According to Chris Griffin, the owner, who was in construction for 15 years before opening his first bar in Augusta, feels that the bar would attract a newer and younger crowd to the Alley. He mentions how he does not intend to out-compete the other restaurants in the area. This is very obvious with his small, but enjoyable build a sandwich menu. The two sides that are available with the sandwich are potato salad or chips more food will be added to the menu in the future. "I'm just going for simplicity, and I think everyone would appreciate that," said Griffin.
Erin Jameson, a waitress at the bar mentions that they plan to incorporate different themes everyday to bring in more customers. A week may consist of Mondays featuring Trivia, Tuesdays Karaoke, Thursdays will be "Ladies Night", Fridays and Saturdays after 9 p.m. will include a live band or DJ. Jameson mentions that the bar is on Facebook and will advertise the latest specials daily.
