It is rare to have a sequel to a game that beats out the previous one, especially if the previous was ground breaking. It is even more rare if you can pull that off twice. This game's ability to keep the player glued to the game for extended periods of time is amazing. Everything from a gripping story to awe-inspiring graphics; this game aims to please. There have been few games that leave the player gleaming with wide-eyed excitement from beginning to end.
God of War III picks up from the exact ending from God of War II. The vengeful son of Zeus, Kratos is on the back of Gaia as she climbs with other Titans to Mt. Olympus to take down its reign. Thanks to new advancements of technology, the cut scenes that would have been CGI on the PS2 are now in real-time. The massive size and scope of the game gives you the sense of the epic proportions that are to come. The visuals, alongside the stellar combat that the GOW series is known for, make this game pleasing for all audiences.
Unlike the previous installment, the use of all weapons feels fluid and uninterrupted. Each weapon comes with its own linked spell, which makes combat more strategic and less involved. This comes from the fact that you can change your weapon on the fly without the need to pause the game. You can even change weapons to link together combos.
All in all, God of War III is a must have for anyone who owns a PS3, and you don't, get one and buy this game. Sony Santa Monica has outdone itself with this game. The formula that they have created works well with action games and it is something that other companies have been trying to do but unable to recreate.
