BioShock 2 leaves off from the previous game. The story starts off with you back in Andrew Ryan's failed society called Rapture. You start off as the original Big Daddy called "Delta" in the bottom of the ocean when a mysterious lady causes you to commit suicide. While you are out, you are separated from your little sister, Eleanor. After 10 years in a coma, you set out to rescue your little sister.
The story follows an interesting story arc but it feels a little shallow partly due to the fact that Delta's life story is told through communications with in-game characters and not actual play through. The ending of Delta's story is the beginning of BioShock 2. As you would expect with this game, the voice acting is truly superb. 2K has done wonderful in capturing the mood through recordings and communications.
The gameplay is the true shining point in this game. You are, once again, placed in the dystopia of Rapture and are pitted against the many violent creatures that reside there. One of the crowning achievements that this game possesses is the ability to dual wield your plasmids and weapons making combat more fluid. The A.I within this game makes the combat more immersive and challenging. Also, the camera system has a new modification that keeps the combat going. In the previous game, you had to collect film and take a picture of the enemy you want to research. Now, you have a camcorder with unlimited film, which allows you to continue fight while the camera is rolling. The new enemies impose new threats, which forces the player to constantly change strategies causing each battle to feel different from the last. The Big Daddies are still tough as ever, and with the addition of Big Sisters, makes the game feel completely revived.
The newest addition to this game is the multiplayer. This mode certainly stands on its own from the game and provides more storyline as it takes place in a civil war that happened in rapture. The multiplayer has six modes with "Capture the Sister" being one of the best.
