Is there any hidden talent out there among the students at USCA? This fall the Pacer Union Board (PUB) and the African-American Students' Alliance (AASA) come together once again for the annual AASA/PUB Talent Show to answer just that question. The theme for this fall's showcase is "Pacer's Got Talent" and many are hoping for the largest turnout thus far.
The talent showcase is open to anyone who would like to display his or her abilities for friends and fellow students. In the past, the performances have been known for their display of unique and impressive talents. According to Rebecca Colflesh, the USCA PUB Coordinator, last year's acts included hip-hop performances, dance routines, and a variety of expressive performances.
Many students avoid on campus entertainment, especially those living off campus. A few reasons those who do not attend these functions give include a lack of time, attendance of peers, or personal enjoyment. Those who attended may be able to inform you that the show is infamous not only for entertainment, but also for the large amounts of attendees.
What does this all boil down to? Earlier it was asked if there was any talent among USCA students. If you think you have the abilities and want to showcase your talent, there is still time to sign up. Applications can be found in the Student Activities Center or by contacting PUB or AASA. The applications must be completed and turned into the organizations by 5 p.m. on October 24th.
For those who will be competing in the talent showcase, a mandatory rehearsal will be held on November 13th from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., tentatively. The actual show will be preformed on November 14th commencing at 8 p.m. in the USCA Etherredge Center.
Whether you have a talent to display, want to support your friends and fellow students, or just want to witness the incredible power of the creative mind, the AASA/PUB Student Talent Show is the place to be.
